Archival Archive Billy D Censorship Marvelous Entertainment OAG oneangrygamer PS4 Senran Kagura 7EVEN

Sony’s censorship policies for the PS4 has claimed another victim, this time it’s Marvelous Entertainment’s Senran Kagura 7EVEN. The policies rocked the Japanese gaming industry since it requires developers to have to submit their game content in English to Sony Interactive Entertainment offices in California. The policies also require developers to censor a lot of fan-service content aimed at enticing straight males.

According to Twinfinite, it’s being reported that Senran Kagura 7EVEN for the PS4 has hit a bit of a snag in how the developers have to approach designing certain aspects of the game, with producer Kenichiro Takaki telling Akiba Souken in an interview…

“Recently, regulations on sexual depictions have become increasingly strict worldwide. For such aspects, we have to make things in a way that they won’t be misunderstood. Due to that, we’re facing difficulties which we hadn’t in the past.

“I believe it’ll take some time. We have to think in a broad way about how to somehow make it happen.”

These regulations already claimed some of the fan-service in Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal, which had to remove the Intimacy Mode from the PS4 version of the game. Additionally, all future Senran Kagura games on the PS4 can no longer include Intimacy Mode, where players can fondle and touch the girls within the game and see them jiggle and bounce depending on where they touch them.

This is the complete opposite of Nintendo, who has courted third-party developers to the Nintendo Switch, including Marvelous Entertainment. One of the big new features that developers are taking advantage of with the Switch is the 4D jiggle physics, which will be featured in the upcoming release of Senran Kagura: Peach Ball. It’s basically the Intimacy Mode from previous games but with the added interactive feedback of the HD Rumble and motion-based interactivity featuring the motion capabilities of the Joy-Con controllers.

So while Sony is forcing developers to censor games from top to bottom, Nintendo is giving developers the option to embrace the glorious goodness of 4D jiggle physics.
