Ready for Intel to put those Ryzen processors back into the stone ages?

Well you’re going to have to wait a couple more years yet because the major plans that Intel has for the year of 2021 is certainly depressing and uninspiring.

Starting off as you know Intel hopes to rush out its 11th generation stop-gap processors dubbed “Rocket Lake” which is built upon the brand new “Cypress Cove” architecture however it is then backported onto Intel’s own 14nm processing node.

Rocket Lake is set to properly “launch” in March however offers a regressive core count by only offering 8 cores and 16 threads which is less than what the last generation’s Comet Lake processors contained. With a maximum of 10 cores and 20 threads on offer with the Core i9 10900K.

Rocket Lake is but isn’t backwards compatible on certain 400-series chipset boards, depending on whether or not your chipset was also built on the 14nm process.

However we’ve already seen leaked performance figures of what’s presumed to be a qualification sample of the 11th gen 11900K curtsey of a Chinese woman.

And suffice to say the gaming performance of Intel’s brand new architecture is extremely lackluster when compared with the last generation 10900K with both processors being clocked at 5.2GHz.

With a proven record of around 12% single core performance increase with the Rocket Lake processor it makes next to no sense regarding how it can offer regressive performance in games, though in some of the cases it has shown to offer the same levels of performance with higher minimum framerates which is probably down to the increase in cache that Cypress Cove actually offers compared to the ancient Skylake based core design.

However, when Intel announced its 11th generation processors they also introduced their 12th generation as well….. which is also slated to launch by the year’s end as well.

So here we have a stop-gap generation on a dying platform and Intel already plans to axe it with their 12th generation not even 10 months later? LMFAO.

So what’s so great about Intel’s 12th generation you may ask? Well Alder Lake will be finally built on Intel’s 10nm SuperFin process while the core design itself is based on the exact same Cypress Cove architecture that you’re going to get with Rocket Lake.

However Intel plan to introduce the LGA 1700 socket to pair with it. Bigger sockets, bigger processors…. that must mean it’ll have more cores right?

No, and Yes.

You see with Alder Lake, Intel will introduce what’s called the “big.LITTLE” design which ARM processors have been doing for literally ages already. Essentially Intel will be producing and segmenting processors with “big” cores, those will be your actual Cypress Cove cores and “little” cores which are basically Atom cores.

You heard that right, Intel are going to be introducing their botched efforts that are Atom cores onto desktop and mobile platforms.

Alder Lake will offer a maximum of only eight “big” cores however it can also offer the same amount of Atom cores simultaneously which means Intel can then go and turn around and market such a pile of shit as a 16 core processor.

The Atom cores are there to aid in multi-threading workloads or more specifically to run background processes on mobile devices to preserve battery life as the little cores are much more efficient than the big ones. Intel have orchestrated and designed their MSDT (mainstream desktop) processors around a mobile focused design.

And this is all the more proven as a specific Alder Lake-P processor has been discovered on Geekbench 5.

The result page which can be found here, shows us the kind of bullshit Intel has in store for its gullible twits come the end of 2021.

The result shows us a “14” core processor with 20 threads? That doesn’t sound right you may ask but oh no. This is just how deep the rabbit hole goes.

Alder-Lake is split into two different groups obviously as with all Intel processors. Alder Lake-S for the desktop and Alder Lake-P for the mobile market. However as Intel’s big.LITTLE design can incorporate 8+8 cores in total at the maximum this is how they get you.

Because this processor actually has 6 “big” cores and 8 worthless Atom cores, with hyper-threading enabled that brings you to twelve threads from the actual six cores that are present however those Atom cores don’t actually offer hyper-threading capabilities whatsoever.

So in total Intel can market this as a 14-core processor with its (6+8) core configuration while the thread count is bumped up to 20. Now on paper that just sounds lovely. Fourteen cores and twenty threads, boy howdy this will certainly put those Ryzen processors to shame alright.

Because I simply cannot be fucked I’ve scrubbed the chart of Alder Lake’s many personalities off Videocardz.

At full chat Alder Lake processors can be advertised as having “16-cores” in a 8+8 configuration with 24 threads in total as only the big cores offer hyper-threading.

Meanwhile in actuality I’m willing to bet big money on such a configuration losing out big time in comparison to AMD’s Ryzen 9 5900X that only offers 12 cores in multi-threading workloads.

However Intel does plan to make many renditions of Alder Lake for the desktop platforms with 8+X configurations totaling anywhere from 8-cores to 14 cores as you’re seeing here.

But don’t get me wrong here, there are multiple instances where you can buy processors with “14” cores, “12” cores or even “8” cores from Alder Lake because of the varying configurations and the inclusion of these cancerous Atom cores.

Don’t expect partitive multi-threading prowess when comparing 12-core processors in the configuration of four big cores with eight Atom cores as you would an 8+0 configuration or even as you’re seeing here with a 6+8 config. Are you confused yet?

Because this is just another way for Intel to scam its userbase out of their hard earned shekels with bullshit core descriptions and false advertising.

In order to get a proper understanding of the sophistication of Alder Lake and Intel’s deceptive marketing you’d need a fucking doctorate in mathematics.

Back onto the Geekbench score now which was actually ran on Windows 10 which is quite surprising until you realize that the poojeets at Microsoft have already introduced a microcode update supporting Alder Lake’s big.Little trash design while they can’t seem to wrap their fucking brains around AMD’s Ryzen with its CCD’s and CCX’s.

However this wasn’t necessarily a test of CPU power but rather a test of the Iris Xe MAX integrated graphics at its disposal.

With a maximum frequency of 1.15GHz the 96 Execution Units totaling 786 cores provided an OpenCL score of just 13,446.

While AMD’s Vega 11 integrated graphics provides scores anywhere from 12,236 to 13,519 while hilariously the RX Vega M collaboration between Intel and AMD nets an OpenCL score of 20,918. The GeForce MX350 provides a superior compute score of 13,966 as well.

In terms of a discrete graphics card comparison the Intel Iris Xe MAX offers a compute score on par with a GTX 660Ti at 13,514 points or an RX 550 which scores 14,051.

Solid figures for a little integrated graphics chip but I mean, AMD have literally been pounding out APUs with VEGA graphics that are both better and are much more affordable. Now with proper SMT enabled with the Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors I don’t see a point in why we should honestly care about this Intel iGPU.
