French cosplayer Alice Livanart found out the hard way that trying to accurately cosplay a character by painting your skin is now a complete no-no in [current year]…. if you’re white.

The prominent and skilled cosplayer was banned from the EuroCosplay 2019 competition following complaints to the organizers from triggered attendees. A detailed report about it was made by Bounding Into Comics back in October.

The cosplay that landed Livanart the ban was based on her Pyke creation, which she showcased to the public back in late September of 2019 on Twitter. The costume cost her €3,000 to create.

The EuroCosplay competition originally included Livanart’s Pyke cosplay after she nabbed first place at the Coupe de France de cosplay event.

But when some SJWs complained about her Pyke cosplay for being “blackface”, EuroCosplay issued a statement claiming that she had been removed from the competition and that they were reviewing their terms of service.

The ridiculousness of it all managed to garner some obvious attention from YouTubers like TheQuartering, who covered the EuroCosplay’s decision following the typical complaints from the outrage brigade.

Livanart did receive plenty of support from normal people and those who haven’t succumbed to social media mental illness.

She also stood by her decision to cosplay as Pyke, which was the right thing to do because a month later, on November 7th, 2019, Alice Livanart was invited to be part of the jury for the French cosplay competition at the TGS Toulouse Occitanie Game Show, which is set to take place between November 30th and December 1st at the Le Parc des Expositions de Toulouse in Toulouse, France.

So while the EuroCosplay event may have banned Livanart due to unfounded accusations of “blackface” and “racism”, at least some of the other organizations recognize Livanart’s creative abilities and recognize her talents.
